INFINITE GOLS GAMES

Self-contained fields of action & the timeless voice of myth; the infinite realization of the gol - The Infinite Gols game installations explore the usage of play as a ceremonial practice that engages our potential for transformative experiences in social realms. Current paradigms of gameplay predominately utilize single person screen/device interaction. These conceived systems are designed to encourage viewers to physically participate in the evolving worlds of mythical recreation arenas. Infinite Gols is a universe of table games and mixed media designed to stimulate the wider array of senses while exploring the motifs of cosmology, morphology, sacred geometry, physics, culture, and mythology. Appropriated from 1970’s interactive tabletop games, the Infinite Gols systems employ similar stickhandle controller mechanisms and transmute their sports ground structures into embryonic fields of allegoric drama. The envisioned stadiums evolve in the complexity of architecture, material, and gameplay; developing from amorphic wastelands to proportional geometric grounds, double to multi-player models, and single to several level fields. As music is intrinsic to ceremony, tournament anthems and noise can be created simultaneously to game action through attached musical instruments, sampling devices, and microphones for both commentary or singing, creating a live soundtrack during ensuing competitions. Likewise, refreshments and aromatherapeutic materials will be paired with events, enabling contestants to enmesh with the new world auras. The application of mechanical and current digital technologies will lay foundations for educational purposes, allowing participants and spectators to learn the basics of simple engineering and newer programmable electronics. While the installations depicted here are continually progressing beyond current photographs, the hope is that these revealed models will lead to an open-source platform of creators sharing their own concepts and passions for curious making and delight in DIY game development.
